Verizon Wi-FI gives Mobile Broadband customers more ways to connect to the Internet
For Immediate Release:
Verizon Wireless now provides access to thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots in the United States, Canada and Mexico

LAS VEGAS – With more and more people and businesses wanting and needing to stay connected, and more and more laptops being sold every day, Verizon Wireless today gave its customers another choice to do just that. Verizon Wireless introduced Verizon Wi-Fi, a way for Mobile Broadband customers to access thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots at no additional charge and to move easily from the nation’s most reliable 3G wireless network to those hotspots.

Verizon Wi-Fi is available in locations throughout Southern Nevada and across the United States, including bookstores, coffee shops, hotels and other public locations. The service is also available at locations in Canada and Mexico, so customers can reduce data roaming charges in those countries when connected to a Verizon Wi-Fi hotspot.

Customers can search for local hotspots – either by address or type of location such as a hotel or café – at www.verizonwireless.com/wi-fi. Search results will provide the location’s address, a map and driving directions.

When within range of a Verizon Wi-Fi hotspot, customers can use VZAccess Manager to connect with a Wi-Fi-enabled notebook or netbook computer. When they are ready to move, but want to remain connected, or if they want the added security of the Verizon Wireless network, customers can simply switch back to Verizon Wireless’ 3G wireless network, which is the largest and most reliable in the country. These choices can help them manage their monthly data allowance by potentially preventing overage charges and saving the allowance for when mobility is needed.

Verizon Wi-Fi allows customers to access the Internet, making it easy to browse the Web, stay on top of social networks, or complete business tasks whenever they need to be done. To take advantage of Verizon Wi-Fi, customers must have a monthly Mobile Broadband or GlobalAccess plan. They must also have a Verizon Wi-Fi supported device, including a Mobile Broadband USB modem, PC Card, ExpressCard®, Verizon Wireless MiFi™ 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, or a notebook or netbook with Mobile Broadband Built-In running Windows® 7, 2000, XP or Vista. A full list of Verizon Wi-Fi supported devices can be found at www.vzam.net.

To use Verizon Wi-Fi, customers must also have VZAccess Manager version 7.2 or higher installed on their PCs. To upgrade to VZAccess Manager 7.2, visit www.vzam.net or select “Check for Upgrades” from the Help menu of VZAccess Manager.
