USN Name Change to Roseman University of Health Sciences Announced
For Immediate Release:
January 12, 2011 - The University of Southern Nevada formally announced today the change of its name effective July 1, 2011 to Roseman University of Health Sciences. The preparations for transitioning to the new name are underway.

In a news release distributed nationally today, Diana Bond, Chair of USN's Board of Trustees said, “The name Roseman University of Health Sciences was selected to honor our president, Dr. Harry Rosenberg, and College of Pharmacy Dean, Dr. Renee Coffman, two outstanding individuals who played pivotal roles in the founding of the university and its growth into a vibrant and innovative institution of higher learning. The change to a non-geographic name will also help the university as it continues its expansion in Utah and will ease confusion by differentiating it from similarly named schools in the Nevada higher education system. More importantly, it better reflects the university’s mission as a leader in transforming health care education.”

Dr. Rosenberg fully supported the name change, saying, “With our tremendous growth in Utah, and particularly with the imminent launch of our Doctor of Dental Medicine program, the University of Southern Nevada name no longer accurately reflects who we are and who we serve. We are a health sciences university offering an unparalleled learning experience, while also delivering excellent, affordable, high-quality health care services in Nevada and Utah communities.”

The process of changing the university name is expected to take several months. A comprehensive re-branding campaign will be implemented in July when the official name change takes place.
