NEVADA RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE 2010 CULINARY EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Prestigious awards highlight Nevada restaurant industry’s ‘shining stars’
October 22, 2010 — Las Vegas, NV — Highlighting the fact that restaurants truly are the cornerstones of the community, Nevada’s culinary industry was out in force Oct. 21 to help honor their peers at the Nevada Restaurant Association’s 2010 Culinary Excellence Awards Gala held at the Las Vegas Country Club.
“These awards are very important because we understand how crucial it is for all aspects of the industry to work together and to speak with a unified voice,” said NvRA President & CEO Katherine Jacobi. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize some of the most deserving individuals and companies. This year’s honorees are true examples of the dedication and spirit abundant in our industry.”
Husband and wife duo, News Anchor Gerald Ramalho from My News 3 and News Reporter Elizabeth Watts from Fox 5 served as the masters of ceremony and Nevada State Treasurer Kate Marshall presented awards to outstanding individuals in five categories. The winners of the 2010 Culinary Excellence Awards are:
- Restaurateur of the Year: Chef Bradley Ogden, Bradley Ogden
The Restaurateur of the Year recognizes an individual who operates an
outstanding restaurant business, demonstrates community involvement
and advance the industry as a whole.
- Culinarian of the Year: Chef David Snyder, Wynn Resorts
Culinarian of the Year recognizes an outstanding Chef for his or her
professionalism, culinary skills, and passion for the culinary arts.
- Allied of the Year: Mark Shaffer, Dine Out Magazine
Allied of the Year recognizes a superior allied member- a vendor,
supplier, or other related company - that goes above and beyond to
provide superior services or products to restaurant members.
- Restaurant Employee of the Year: Chris Decker, Metro Pizza
The Employee of the Year recognizes an exceptional restaurant
employee for his or her outstanding performance, attitude, motivation
and dedication to the industry.
- Bartender of the Year: John O’Donnell, N9ne Steakhouse
Bartender of the Year recognizes an exceptional restaurant bartender
for his or her ability to please customers, create a positive atmosphere
and mix and serve drinks.
Each year, the National Restaurant Association, along with founding partner American Express, honor restaurant companies that have gone above and beyond to give back to their communities. The state winners of this prestigious Restaurant Neighbor Award were also recognized at the Culinary Excellence Awards. They are: Café Blue at Le Cordon Bleu (small business), Memphis Championship Barbecue (mid-size business), and Atlantis Casino Resort (large business).
