Valley Hospital Completes $26 Million Surgery & Endoscopy Services Expansion

Valley Hospital officially opened its doors to a three-suite endoscopy department on February 22, concluding the final phase of a $26 million surgical services expansion and renovation. The project encompassed:
• A brand-new 10-suite operating theater which opened in July 2008
• An 18-bed pre-operative and 20-bed post-operative unit, each with large, spacious patient bays
• A three-suite endoscopy department
• Separate waiting areas for Surgery and Surgical Intensive Care Unit patients
Valley Hospital offers the following types of surgery: cardiac, vascular, neuro, abdominal, colorectal, gynecological, orthopedic, spine, urological and general surgery. It is accredited by the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS).
Other Valley Hospital Developments:
• One of the medical/surgical nursing units has been renovated and converted to a 32-bed all-private room surgical post-operative unit.
• A renovation of the Center for Women’s Services is underway, which includes the antepartum unit, maternal triage unit, the post-partum unit and the nurse’s station. Approximately 3300 babies were born at Valley Hospital in 2010. The unit also includes a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, which provides the highest level of care for newborns.
• The development of a 16-bed acute rehabilitation inpatient unit is in progress. The addition will offer patients the opportunity to remain within the facility to receive intensive rehabilitation care following a stroke or surgical procedure. Valley Hospital has been accredited by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center since 2007.
