The Valley Health System Takes Heart with Chest Pain Center Accreditation
For Immediate Release:
LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Chest pain centers in all five hospitals in the The Valley Health System have received full accreditation from The Society of Chest Pain Centers.

The five centers — Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center, Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center, Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center, Summerlin Hospital Medical Center and Valley Hospital Medical Center — were accredited as a result of the quality service they provide to patients experiencing heart-related emergencies.

Accredited chest pain centers use a protocol-driven and systematic approach to patient management that allows physicians to reduce the time it takes for patients to receive treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack, when treatment is often most effective. In addition, the approach allows the staff to better monitor patients when it is not clear if the patient is having coronary event to help ensure that patients are not sent home too early nor needlessly admitted.

The Valley Health System is the largest hospital system in Nevada to offer community residents high quality, accredited chest pain services at all its facilities. Each of the five hospitals has established processes to help EMS professionals, emergency physicians, nurses and technicians work together to prevent heart attacks and save lives.

“The accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers ensured our hospitals passed on-site evaluations, where health care teams demonstrated the commitment and expertise by meeting or exceeding strict cardiac care criteria,” says Karla Perez, Vice President of The Valley Health System. “This means all five, accredited facilities have both the heart and quality-of-care measures in place to offer to patients experiencing chest pain in any Valley Health System hospital.”

Among the services offered at each center are:
  • Integration with the local emergency medical system (EMS) and hospital emergency department
  • Immediate assessment, diagnosis and treatment of chest pain patients
  • Specific treatment plan for low-risk acute coronary patients
  • Specially trained healthcare professionals
