Health Services Coalition, Sunrise Health Hospital Group Renew Health Care Provider Agreement
For Immediate Release:
Health Services Coalition, Nevada’s largest health care advocacy group, chooses the Sunrise Health System for healthcare and quality partnership

Las Vegas, NV (Feb. 24, 2011) – Health Services Coalition (HSC) and the Sunrise Health System of hospitals are pleased to announce an agreement has been reached that will allow the 260,000 HSC members to continue to access Sunrise Health hospitals for their healthcare needs. Twenty-two health funds and employers in Southern Nevada are represented by HSC and the Sunrise Health System includes Sunrise Hospital, Sunrise Children’s Hospital, MountainView Hospital and Southern Hills Hospital.

The two-year agreement crosses new territory for both parties with future rate increases linked to the Sunrise Health Hospitals achievement of targeted quality measures, such as those based on publicly reported quality data, hospital readmission rates and others. The status of Sunrise Health’s performance on these quality indicators will be reviewed by the hospital system and HSC on a quarterly basis. Also, Sunrise Health and HSC have agreed to develop a mutually acceptable report card on hospital care that would be available to the public.

“Providing affordable, quality health care to its members’ patients is HSC’s first priority,” said Leslie Johnstone, executive director of HSC. “Through our negotiations with Sunrise Health, we have been able to come to an agreement on a reasonable price for care and implement new quality measures which will improve hospital care and, in turn, reduce hospital costs for our members.”

“The Sunrise Health Hospitals have always made patient safety and quality care top priorities and this new agreement reinforces that commitment for the people of Southern Nevada,” said Sylvia Young, CEO of the Sunrise Health System. “We look forward to continuing to work in collaboration with the Coalition to provide high quality, affordable care to their members.”

HSC members will continue to have access to the four Sunrise Health System hospitals, which feature a higher level of care and nationally recognized programs in emergency medicine, cardiovascular services, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, rehabilitation and pediatrics.
